If you want to build self-esteem, affirmations are a vital part of your confidence toolbox. The habitual thoughts that you have every moment of the day are what drive your feelings. When you have confident thoughts, you feel confident. When you have negative, self-critical thoughts, you feel down about yourself.
It makes sense then, that if you can change the thoughts you have, you can directly transform your confidence. One of the best ways to change the habitual thoughts you have is by confidence affirmations. This is why confidence affirmations make up a significant part of the confidence building programs I make.
There are some basic rules to remember when using affirmations.
Word your affirmations in the positive. If you have affirmations that talk about what you don’t want (e.g. I don’t want to feel nervous) your mind will focus on what you don’t want instead of what you want.
Make affirmations present tense. In other words don’t affirm something for the future (e.g. I will be confident). Tomorrow never comes. You want to affirm things for now.
Make affirmations credible. Saying things that are blatantly fake will cause your mind to say “yeah right.”
Say them as often as you can remember. The more the better.
Adding visualization to confidence affirmations supercharges them.
Adding emotion to confidence affirmations is another way to get accelerated results

Here are some examples of excellent confidence affirmations you can use to build self-esteem:
“I have confidence in myself”
“I have confidence in my abilities”
“I am worthy and deserving of happiness”
“I like myself”
A confident person is thinking these thoughts most of the time. With these thoughts they are able to deal with any situation and feel confident and self-assured.
If you practice confidence affirmations every day, you will notice that they start to become second nature. Instead of responding to situations with unhelpful unconfident thoughts, you respond with empowering strong thoughts.
If you want to gain confidence, commit to using confidence affirmations in your life.
